Use Folder Lock only as a local archive control
Folder Lock may fit selected Windows storage and archive workflows after version-specific testing. It does not approve a grant budget, replace Research.gov or Grants.gov, manage institutional identities, guarantee backup or recover every forgotten password.
The research office pilots Folder Lock with fictional budget files, records the current version and license, tests locker creation, import, lock and unlock, restart behavior, backup and recovery, then approves only the tested archive use.
Run the control in five steps
- 01Verify the current release, license and supported Windows environment.
- 02Create a test locker with fictional budget files.
- 03Test import, lock, unlock, editing residue and restart.
- 04Test independent backup and recovery behavior.
- 05Document approved uses, exclusions and support ownership.
Preserve the decision trail
Keep version, installer source, license, system, test manifest, access result, residue check, backup/recovery result, exclusions and review date.
Stop and investigate when
- Product artwork is treated as independent assurance.
- The tool is described as sponsor submission or accounting software.
- Recovery is promised without a successful test.
State what this does not prove
Does not replace provider permissions, guaranteed backup, password recovery or enterprise identity management. Sponsor rules, institutional approval, submission systems, provider permissions and recovery remain separate.
Read each supplied interface with its limitation

Verify the current Folder Lock release, licensing, supported environment, plaintext residue, backup and recovery before approval.
Grant budget security questions
Does Folder Lock approve or submit a grant budget?
No. Sponsor systems and institutional officials control submission.
Do supplied screens prove current behavior?
No. They identify the product interface; verify the current release in the actual workflow.
